Description
Designed by 12-string guitarist and vintage guitar expert Paul Brett as a fitting tribute to the pioneering blues era of the 1930’s and in particular, the legendary Blind Willie McTell, the Vintage V5000SB-12 Statesboro’ oozes pure nostalgia from every pore. Featuring a solid spruce top, with maple back and mahogany sides elegantly mated to a mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard, the Statesboro’s rosewood bridge with bone saddle and bone nut provides excellent intonation and tone, with plenty of volume. “Using the designs of the legendary Stella guitars crafted by Oscar Schmidt in the early 20th century,” says Paul “Vintage and I have created a homage to the iconic model that Willie himself played. Obviously we have updated various elements to morph into todays market, but in essence, it looks like and certainly sounds like a big blues machine of that era.”
Available in both acoustic (V5000SB-12) and electro-acoustic models (VE5000SB-12 – with the addition of a Fishman PRO-REP-102 Rare Earth Humbucker soundhole pickup system) the Statesboro’ is ideal for traditional blues pickers and is also able to handle many other styles and tunings, depending on string gauges. Supplied with Kinsman Hardshell case.
Paul Brett’s string gauge suggestions.
“On my Statesboro I use 11 to 50’s tuned down a tone but with the bass pair dropped to C. If i used heavier strings I would only tune down to B, never to concert pitch to avoid damaging the guitar”.
